hey so you are probably wondering what in the world are these pictures. yeah they might seem kinda boring just looking at them until i tell you what exactly they are. So i have to give you a little back ground first. So as you may know the city of jerusalem has been destroyed more than once and everytime it was rebuilt they would just build on top of the old foundations so a lot of the Jerusalem that Christ would of walked on is actually underneath the Jerusalem now. One of the things that is still remaining is the retaining wall from the platform that King Herod built to build the temple on. The reason why it is still remaining is because the wall was really really really high. So because it was built so massive there is alot of it that is underground that you cannot see. The other day we went on a tour of what is called the kotel tunnel. This tour takes you through a tunnel that walks you along the western wall of the retaining wall that is underground. The western wall is a very sacred place to the Jewish people because it is the closest thing to where the temple would have been when it was still standing. Jews come here to pray especially friday nights to bring in the Sabbath or what they call shabot. Over here there day of worship is on saturday. The pictures below show a model of what the temple mount would of looked like when King Herods temple was built. The picture with the guy, which was our tour guide named yonathen, is a picture of the western wall that is underneath the ground. The other picture is us walking through a area that was carved out by water. The pictures do not do it justice. This tour was one of my favorite things that i have done so far.
