Valley of the Kings

One of my favorite days was when i went to the Valley of the kings. This is where many of the Pharoahs tombs are. After a while the Pharoahs realized that building pyramids served as almost a banner telling robbers to come rob from the tombs so they started carving the tombs out of the mountain side where they wouldn't be do noticable. One of the most impressive tombs that i saw there was that of Ramses IV. There was a lot of carvings and painting and a lot of symbolism as well. Unfortunantly they didn't allow any cameras in any of the tombs and they were really strict about it so i can't share any pictures of what i saw. All I can say is that it was amazing! I wish that i could to decribe it for you but it would take me way too long. sorry!
This is us at the top of a staircase that led up to the tomb of Thoutmes III. After climbing all those stairs to get up we had to climb a lot of stairs back down into his tomb. It was really cool though.
This is a view down in the valley of the kings just to give you an idea of what it kinda looked like. By the way it was really hot that day!!!! If you can't tell :)

This is me and my roommate Bre in front of the sign for King Tut's tomb. We were able to see his mummy here as well. All the stuff that they found in his tomb we saw later at the Egyptian Museum. It was very cool and so was seeing his tomb. His tomb wasn't that big because he was Pharoah for only 9 years. The reason why we have so much of his stuff is because the robbers couldn't find his tomb because it was covered up by the debris of a tomb built right on top of it.

This is the mountain that looks out over the valley of the kings. They chose to make this a place to put there tombs because the mountain itself looks like a pyramid. Another tomb that i was able to go into was that of the Pharoah Sety. Yep the one i the story of Moses. It was very cool. One other interesting thing that we weren't able to go see is that there is also a valley of the Queens. The most famous tomb being that of Queen Nefertiti. It's so famous and i guess so magnificent that the tickets are $1,500 for an hour.
